Letter of Intent and Timeline for Campus Development

Revised and updated October 2006

Coram Deo Academy is on the cusp of achieving the three strategic goals which were identified by CDA leaders and recorded in planning documents in August 2004. Sola Dei Gloria.  They are:

  1. Purchase and develop a campus in the Flower Mound area;
    Coram Deo Academy purchased The Church at Wichita Creek Flower Mound campus July 2005 and opened a Lower School there several weeks later.  With the addition of facilities for grades seven through twelve K-12 and school administration now enjoy residing on the campus.
  2. Qualitative development through accreditation:
    In September 2006, a Quality Assurance Team from Southern Association of Colleges and Schools recommended CDA for accreditation.
  3. Continued enrollment growth:
    The Academy anticipates average annual enrollment growth of 15 percent.
Founded in 1999, Coram Deo Academy is an independent K-12 day school educating youth in a historic Christian worldview through a rigorous classical curriculum.  Students study Latin, English, Spanish, logic, rhetoric, math, science, theology, apologetics and the arts and revel athletics. Most students study on the school campus under professional instruction one half time and complete their assignments at home under parental tutelage the other one-half time.

Enrollment at the Flower Mound, Carrollton and Dallas campuses during the 2006-2007 school year totals 805 students from 480 families who attend 185 different churches and reside in 45 Dallas Fort Worth municipalities.  Of the 520 students attending the Flower Mound area campus, more than 50% live in the immediate Flower Mound area with most others commuting from areas within about 20 minutes.  The Academy program brings an important educational and cultural option to the Flower Mound area.  Some families have moved from other parts of the Metroplex to locate closer to the school their children attend and to enjoy the benefits of the beautifully developing Town.

Coram Deo Academy plans a phased development of its new 15-acre wooded campus to accommodate a K-12 school with a daily enrollment of 612 students.  In time, separate buildings with 12 classrooms will house 204 students each in learning environments customized to the age of the students.  During summer 2005, CDA made necessary improvements to move its lower school to the site for classes beginning fall 2005.  Grades seven through12 and administration moved in summer 2006, after construction of a temporary upper school classroom complex.

The leadership phase of the Cultivate Today – Transform Tomorrow Capital Campaign began in 2006; the  public phase of the campaign is scheduled to begin in 2007.  The campaign will raise funds to support progressive construction of the master plan, which includes an upper school classroom building (facilitates removal of temporary buildings) and gymnasium/assembly space for occupancy in 2009.  In 2010, the current gym/auditorium will be renovated to provide additional classrooms and support for the gymnasium/assembly space.  In 2011, CDA will start construction of two more classroom buildings and arts facility, commons, science center, administration facility, gardens and recreation fields, and reconfigured entries and drives.  Consistent with its educational philosophy the Academy will develop a built environment that teaches its users about creation, mass, energy and stewardship.
