Coram Deo Academy, a school for head and heart
As Virgil said to Dante, "It is the place to start."
With that allusion, and much more, your children will contend
Let this blog be your Virgil, your mentor, and your friend.

Qualities of a Model Coram Deo Scholar

At a recent faculty meeting the question was posed, “What are the qualities of a model Coram Deo scholar?” CDA faculty agreed that they desired students who are inquisitive and eager to learn. They love teaching children who are diligent and accountable, polite and respectful. The teachers described their model scholars as those who are Christ-centered leaders with an interest in a broad-based education.

Do you see these qualities in your child? Are these attributes which you hope will be cultivated in your child? If so, then we invite you to make application to Coram Deo Academy when the 2007-08 new student admission season opens November 1. You may submit an online application by clicking the “Apply” button to the right. Additional links will provide you with campus visitation and information meetings dates so you can learn more about classical Christian education as implemented at Coram Deo Academy. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Evening Information Meetings

New families will enjoy learning about classical Christian education as implemented in Coram Deo Academy's university schedule. Headmaster Rodney Marshall along with Robi Marshall, Curriculum Director, will explain the means and meaning of educating "coram deo" (in the presence of God) with its life-changing implications for your children and future generations.

School representatives will include administrators, faculty and staff. Meetings are not campus specific so attendance at any location is sufficient. Both parents are strongly encouraged to come. Older students may also attend; however, since the evening is geared toward adults, it is best to make childcare arrangements for younger children. The program begins at
7 pm and generally concludes by 8:30 pm. Please make a reservation for November 13 by emailing Mr. Fox at jfox@coramdeoacademy.org or calling 972-385-6410.

Campus Visit Days: A Window into Coram Deo Academy

In addition to condensed presentations about classical Christian education and CDA’s admission process, Campus Visit Days provide an opportunity to tour the Flower Mound campus while classes are in session. The Athletic Director will join directors of the Grammar, Logic, and High Schools for Q & A. The program begins at 9 am in the Fireside Room and concludes by 10:30 am. Please email brogers@coramdeoacademy.org or call 1-800-465-0561 to make a reservation for November 14.

Beginning Thursday, November 16, CDA of Carrollton will receive visitors from 9:30 – 10:30 am on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month when school is in session. Please make a reservation by emailing Mr. Davis at sdavis@coramdeoacademy.org or calling 972-862-8657.

The Dallas School offers weekly visitation at 9:00 am every Thursday that school is in session. Please contact Mr. Fox at 972-385-6410 for more information.

A Welcome Message from the Admission Office

Thank you for your interest in Coram Deo Academy where professional educators collaborate with parents to educate Christian youth to live all of life coram deo. This Latin phrase means “before God” or “in God’s presence” and describes our intent: all our endeavors, all of our studies are to be done in God’s presence and to His glory.

As you begin exploring the many educational options available to you, we trust that this website will introduce you to our program and whet your appetite for learning more at a Campus Visit Day or Evening Information Meeting.

The links on this page are stops on a journey which we hope ends at Coram Deo’s doors. This blog is designed to help you on your way; you are receiving it in response to your request for school information. If you do not wish to receive regular notices from CDA, you may unsubscribe at any time.

Coram Deo Academy educates youth in a historic world view through a rigorous classical curriculum. Our mission is to train ethical leaders and wise thinkers who will shape culture for the glory of God.”

                                                            --CDA Mission Statement

In the words of my husband and household bard, Greg Rogers, consider how the academy’s mission will prepare your child for his or her life’s calling:

Coram Deo Academy, a school for head and heart

As Virgil said to Dante, “It is the place to start.”

With that allusion, and much more, your children will contend

Let this blog be your Virgil, your mentor, and your friend.

The tools of learning end with contemplation of the Good

It doesn't always happen but at least it always should.

Here at the beginning, there is toil and sweat and strain

And somewhere in the distance there is Peace and Truth to gain.

Classical Christian studies is not an idle boast

It’s oh-so Aristotelian, infused with the Holy Ghost.

It shaped the face of Christendom, and will so once again

As Christian men and women face a newer lion's den.

The Philistines have once more sent their giants to the field

And many wise men say that it is wisest just to yield.

But somewhere there's a child, armed with a sling, who stands alone

And laughs at modern terrors, for this school is his stone.
