Re-enrollment Details and Special Announcements
I tust that each of you has enjoyed the break to this point and is ready to bring in the New Year.  As you do so, remember the priority re-enrollment during January.  I have included some links and special details about the process.  A couple of interesting announcements are included in the blog this week as well.

Merry Christmas!
I want to thank each of our wonderful CDA of Carrollton families for their generosity and words of encouragement to teachers, staff and to myself.  We appreciate the gifts, the goodies and most of all, your prayers and support.  Read on about Christmas Break information and some good news.

Remember Your Tuna...

Please remember that we are collecting cans of tuna along with the CDA High School in an effort to collect a ton of tuna.  Bring your cans of tuna and drop them off at the front desk or in your classroom.  I know there are many families who will benefit through your actions.

By the way, be sure to ask your kids about the special guest we had yesterday and today.  I guess I missed our guest again but I hear he had some very interesting information to pass along to our students.

In Christ,

Scott Davis

Re-enrollment, a Ton of Tuna, Announcements and More...
I was given the opportunity this past week to “throw out the first pitch” for the year. You see, it is time again for our eighth grade students to do their oral Chreias. I took the opportunity to go first. I drew a quote from the hat, took about two minutes to gather my thoughts and then stood and went through each step of the chreia orally. This is quite a challenge but one that really helps students to think logically and quickly. I trust I gave a good example but it was great fun never-the-less.

Be sure to read about a ton of tuna, upcoming events, special announcements and re-enrollment.

End of the quarter announcements...

Make plans to attend the fall Festival of the Arts on Friday at 10:00am.  See our students' art projects, music and drama presentations and even a violin quartet.  After that, plan on attending the musical theatre performance on Monday at 7:00pm.  See scenes from the "Merchant of Venice" as well as Broadway tunes!

Also, come out to the basketball game tomorrow at 5:00pm.  This is a change from the original schedule but plan to see the Lions on Thusday at 5:00pm.

Good News About our Full Time Offering:

I have received word from Christian Life Assembly that we will be able to use the CAFE next year for our study center for the full time program.  Students in this program (grades 5-8) will be in the study center on their off days and enjoy a Starbucks type atmosphere with a person helping them coordinate assignments and giving assistance as well as teachers stopping in for a cup of coffee and offering some help.  It should be a great place and I look forward to seeing this new program develop.  Please call me or e-mail me with your questions.

Scott Davis

Morning arrival time adjustment

Parents,

As the weather has gotten colder, I have made arrangements for the front doors of the ROCK to unlock at 7:30am.  This will allow those who are here a few minutes early to come into the lobby and wait there where it is warm.  We will still open the doors to the classrooms at 7:45am so that our teachers may have time to prepare for class.  This adjustment should eliminate the need to go through the west door on cold days.  This change should be in place on Wednesday this week.  Again, we will still open the classrooms at 7:45am and begin classes at 8:00am as usual.

I trust this will help many on cold weather days.

In Christ,

Scott Davis

Campus Visit Day on Thursday

Be sure to let your friends know about our campus visit day on Thursday this week at 9:30am.  It only lasts an hour and interested parents can receive valuable information as well as a first hand look at classes and teachers.  Please call our office at 972-862-8657 or e-mail carrollton@coramdeoacademy.org for reservations.

In Christ,

Scott Davis

Cinch Sacks and Basketball

I want to remind everyone about the cinch sacks available with the new LION logo on them.  These are really nice bags and will make an excellent Christmas present.  Orders are due on Wednesday this week and the bags are $15.00 per bag.  Pick up a form at the front desk or e-mail cshailer@coramdeoacademy.org to have one e-mailed to you.  I think I will go order mine now!  Contact Stephanie Deal with any questions you have about the bags.  sdeal@coramdeoacademy.org

Basketball today will be at 4:00 and 5:00 here at the ROCK.  This is a slight change from the blog on Friday.  Our A team will play at 4:00 and the B team at 5:00.  Be sure to come out or stay after school to cheer on the Lions.

Have a great day!

Scott Davis
