Achievement Testing Next Week at the Upper School
Dear Parents,
The following letter is being sent home with every Flower Mound Upper School student today and tomorrow.  It will hopefully answer any questions about our Achievement Testing next week.  The letter is sent from our testing coordinator, Mrs. Kathy Schaefer:  You may contact her directly (kschaefer@coramdeoacademy.org) with any questions.

(text of letter)
Dear Parents,

Our annual achievement testing takes place Monday, February 6th through Thursday, February 9th for grades 2-9. Students will test on their regularly scheduled class days. Students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 10th through 12th grades will not be affected by the testing schedule.

As in previous years, we will be using the Comprehensive Testing Program, 4th edition (CTP4). The school will provide all materials necessary for testing. All we ask of you is to please make sure your student gets enough rest, eats a healthy breakfast and arrives on time for school. Although each campus will determine their own schedule, students will be testing primarily in the morning. Even though afternoon classes will meet as scheduled, homework and in-class work may be adjusted due to achievement testing.

Following morning testing on both Tuesday, February 7th and Wednesday, February 8th, parents of 7th and 8th grade students at both campuses are invited to attend a special high school planning presentation by Upper School Director, Bill Rector, from 1:15 to 2:45 PM at the Upper School auditorium. Students may be excused from afternoon classes to attend with their parents. Topics will include graduation requirements, strategies for high school success, and introductory college guidance.  Based on feedback from last year’s program, parents and students found this very informative, so please plan to attend.

Thank you for your support during this important week of testing. CTP4 results are a valuable tool for both the school and our families. Achievement testing will provide you with an outside evaluation of your student’s progress and provide the school with standardized results to help us evaluate our program.

God bless,

Kathy Schaefer
Testing and College Planning Coordinator

Dear Parents,
Blessings to you from the Lord and greetings from the faculty and staff of CDA.  Please take a moment to review the following items of interest:
Weekly Highlights
The final day to re-enroll without incurring any re-enrollment fees is Tuesday, January 31st. This is also the last day to “reserve” your student’s preferred class day assignment. Beginning February 1st we open the class rosters to the many families that have requested a change in their class day and also to the new families that have enrolled.
Please re-enroll by Tuesday, January 31st.

Coming Events and Continued Concerns...
ACHIEVEMENT TESTINGDuring the week of February 6th, our 7-9th grade students will be taking achievement tests. We take these exams every year and this special week is built into our annual schedule. Your student should plan on attending on the days they would normally attend their typically scheduled Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu classes. Please plan on having your student here by the normal 1st period starting time (8:15a). Achievement testing will run during the mornings for these students and they return to regular schedules for the afternoon. There will be no disruption in the 10th -12th grade classes.
HIGH SCHOOL PLANNING MEETINGS – Wednesday, February 8th and Thursday, February 9th at 1:15pm we will be holding a meeting in our Upper School auditorium for parents of 7&8th grade students to discuss planning for the high school years at Coram Deo Academy. We will talk about graduation requirements, strategy for success in high school and even a look ahead to college guidance. Please mark your calendars as we take a 90-minute look at the most frequently asked questions about our high school. Students may be excused to attend with their parents.
COLLEGE PLANNING NIGHT7:00pm, February 23rd we have reserved the Auditorium at the UpperSchool for an evening of college planning information for our junior class. Topics will include 1) CDA Philosophy of career guidance, 2) Testing Transcripts and Teacher Recommendations and 3) College Financing. Space is limited to our junior class parents and students – mark your calendars and we’ll see you then.
