CDA's Request of The Town of Flower Mound P&Z Almost Approved Then Tabled
Monday evening Coram Deo Academy officials appeared before the Town of Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission in support of an application to place a temporary classroom complex on our Flower Mound campus to house the upper school until completion of a permanent facility. The commissioners viewed the idea of developing our classical-Christian school program in the Town favorably. After about an hour of presentation and discussion, the commissioners tabled the matter until the next P&Z meeting March 13. They requested CDA take some additional time to discuss the plans with more of the surrounding property owners and afford residents of Flower Mound opportunity to comment on the proposal by email, letter and telephone or publicly at the next meeting. We look forward to this interaction with our neighbors and to the many supportive comments families will provide. If you would like to comment, please address your correspondence to Thomas Dalton, Town Planner at tommy.dalton@flower-mound.com with a copy to school@coramdeoacademy.org.  Thank you.

Prayer Request for P&Z Hearing
Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord;
he turns it wherever he will.

Tonight Coram Deo Academy officials appear before the Town of Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission in support of our application to place an upper school temporary classroom complex on our Flower Mound campus. This 8,300 SF structure includes two buildings, one with six and the other with four classrooms connected by a covered breezeway. We chose the larger buildings over smaller portable “trailer” buildings in order to reduce the number of temporary buildings on the site, and to provide a more aesthetically pleasing solution for temporary facilities. The exterior will consist of a stucco finish in neutral colors, stained deck and large potted plants to soften the buildings and delineate walkways. The school anticipates needing these buildings for about three years or until a permanent upper school classroom facility is occupied. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm at the Town Council chambers on 1171 near Morris Road.  Please pray for an affirmative outcome.

Big Weekend for CDA Athletics
This is going to be a huge weekend for the Athletic Department at CDA. On Saturday CDA will be featured in a movie about special attractions in Texas. The filming will take place at the Gopher Bowl in Grand Prairie Texas beginning at dark. [Click here for map] Fans are asked to arrive by 6:00 PM and we will have prizes to raffle off including 4 IPODS. We will have many other prizes to raffle during the course of the evening and we should be finished by 8:30

The RSVP’s are coming in steadily, but we still need more. We are looking for 1500 to 2000 people in order to make this a great event. Please email me at dbrake@coramdeoacademy.org or call me at 214-769-4398 if you are coming so we can have a clear picture of our progress. Remember that CDA will receive a large donation for our efforts!

Friday the Faculty/Alumni will play the CDA Boys Varsity at 7:30 and the game will be played at Forrestwood Middle School. [Click here for map]. The Varsity boys are fresh off a great season and a 2nd Place finish in the State Tournament. They are looking to finally be victorious over the Faculty/Alumni after two years of defeat. Come join us for an exciting evening of basketball CDA style.

CDA Debate Team Fares Well in Tourney
“Qualified success” is the best way to describe CoramDeoAcademy’s Debate Team participation at the Flower Mound High School Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament held this past Friday and Saturday. This private Christian school high school, whose enrollment is only 149 students, placed 8 participants from second place to semi-finalist. The team is coached by Ms. Gerri Colvin who is in her 3rd year at CDA.
