Winning by 17 points, the Coram Deo Academy Varsity Boys basketball team faced off with the Hill School Hawks on Dec. 15. The Lions got off to a fast start crashing the boards with a lead of 52 Lions, 35 Hawks, then roared to a victory winning 83 (Lions) to 66 (Hawks).
Ben Moer led in baskets scored with 28 points and six rebounds. Zack Moer scored 19 points and six rebounds. Bronnick Foo hit two three-pointers and scored a total of 12 points, three assists and three steals. Andrew Frank hit one three-pointer and had a total of 10 points and one steal. Tucker Middlebrook also scored 10 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Cameron Myer and Marcus Dingler both scored two points, and Hunter Deal had one steal. -- Chris Deal
Led by point guard Bronnick Foo and power forward Ben Moer, the Lions cruised to a 72-51 win over Rockwall Christian Academy for the consolation trophy at the Dallas Lutheran Tournament last weekend. The game was tight at the end of the first quarter, with the Lions up by two. But hot shooting and full-court pressure in the second quarter widened the gap to a 14-point lead at halftime. The third quarter was a stalemate, with both teams trading baskets, but the Lions turned it on in the fourth, extending their lead and ultimately securing the victory over the Rockwall team. The Lions were led in scoring by Ben Moer with 22, Bronnick Foo with 18, Zach Moer with 14 and Michael O'Brien with 10. The Lions record is 5 and 5; play is at American Heritage Academy this Tuesday night.
Varsity Girls finish 3rd in Cedar Hill
The Lady Lions defeated Harvest Christian to finish 3rd in the Trinity Lady Tiger classic. The Lady Lions won by 8 points and had an outstanding tournament. Congratulations to Coach Bernard Scott for the great weekend!
Varsity Soccer wins first district game
The Varsity Soccer team beat Notre Dame of Wichita Falls 4-1 to win their first district game. With several players out the Lions played well to defeat an improved Notre Dame squad. The Lions are looking toward a playoff berth this year and this is a great first step.
Junior High teams post impressive victories
The Junior High girls won in exciting fashion as Macy manning hit a three pointer with 1.5 seconds to go in the game to help the girls beat Denton Calvary 34-33. The game went back and forth right up to the last seconds of the game when Miss Manning hit the winning shot. It was a fun game to watch. Great Job ladies!
The Junior High boys won in a landslide with a 42-9 victory over Denton Calvary. Greer Newlan led the Lions with 12 points followed by Caleb Brake (8), Slader Ammons (8) and Ryan Southerland (7). Congratulations on an impressive victory!
Most of the soccer teams in the TAPPS 3A division are made up of boys. But at Coram Deo Academy of Flower Mound, girls have played the last two years. Today and Saturday, sophomore Stephanie Sharp, playing as the holding mid-fielder, will captain the team at a tournament. The team plays at Oak Grove Park in Grapevine today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on Friday at 5:30 p.m.. Goalkeeper and senior Taylor Sharp will captain on Friday. The team will play at Fort Worth Christian in North Richland Hills on Saturday at a time to be announced.
Team members are: Drew Davis, Ryan Gregory, Courtney Kotyk, Theo Kotyk, Mackenzie Lamon, Mitchell Lamon, Alec Mackie, Blake Osenbaugh, Matthew Rogers, Israel Roland, Stephanie Sharp, Taylor Sharp, Trevor Smith and Joel Wesselius. Seven are returning players from last year when CDA had 17 players.
The team is 1-1 so far this season; district play starts next week.

Starting out strong, the Coram Deo Academy Lions Varsity basketball team scored a huge victory over the Temple Christian Eagles on Nov. 15 with a final score of 71 to 22.
Michael O'Brien led the team with five rebounds; Zach Moer led the team in baskets with 17 points with Ben Moer (12 points) and Andrew Frank (11 points) close behind. Bronnick Foo stripped the ball away from the hands of the Eagles seven times and Eric Neal led in assists. Also contributing to the Lions victory were Hunter Deal and Cameron Meyer.
The game got off to a quick start for the Lions with a score of 17-2 at the end of the first quarter. At the half, the Lions extended their lead to 38 to 9.
