New Athletic Offerings 2008-2009
We are pleased to offer a Cross Country elective for the fall of 2008. Victor Lemley will coach the team this year to give our runners the opportunity to run in the fall. This class will also be used by the soccer and basketball players to improve their conditioning before their winter season. Registration in now available online through your family login.

We are also excited to offer two new JV teams this year to those interested in baseball or softball. We are opening the Varsity classes to 8th grade students who would like to begin working with the CDA coaching staff. We will play a JV schedule for those 8th, 9th and 10th graders who would like an opportunity to play and develop their skills. In order for us to add these teams we will need more players to register. Registration is now available online through your family login.

To continue our focus on improving our Varsity programs through JV opportunities, we are looking to start a JV football program this year. We would like for our freshman and sophomores to have the ability to play other teams their age and size. If you would be interested in playing on a JV football team this year please contact Coach Brake at dbrake@coramdeoacademy.org.

Baseball Camp

We are excited to have baseball camp start next week. It should be a lot of fun for the students and will also provide them some great instruction to help them improve their fundamentals.

We will meet at Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound on Monday at 1:00PM. Camp will finish each day at 4:00 PM. We will have water available but they can bring their own if they like. They should also bring their bat, glove and cleats for use at the camp.

Michael Ouille will lead the camp with the help of two CDA varsity baseball players. Coach Jimmy Jones, an ex Major League pitcher will work with the boys on Tuesday and Thursday to specifically help them work on their throwing and pitching.

One special note: on Wednesday we will go to Bakersfield in Flower Mound to use the batting cages. We will drive a CDA van with the students and return with them upon completion. Coach Ouille will discuss the transportation with all parents on the first day of camp. It is acceptable to meet Coach Ouille at Bakersfield if you prefer. All other days, camp will be held at Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound.

We look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Summer Athletics in Full Swing
Summer is the fourth season for Coram Deo Academy as we have over 50 athletes competing in different leagues and tournaments in football, basketball, softball and baseball. Our coaches, Marc Dingler, Vic Lemley, Tom Whitby and Jimmy Jones are taking teams all over the Metroplex improving their skills with regular practices and games. This is new to CDA, but is a huge improvement to our program. Thanks to our fine coaching staff for sacrificing some of their summer for our students. We will see the benefit of this sacrifice next year!

Also we have over 60 students, grades 2-12, participating in our summer camps. These young athletes are learning the fundamentals of their game and are having a great time. We still have openings for our football, baseball and strength/conditioning classes next week and would highly encourage you to register your athlete for these camps. Please call me if you are interested participating at 214-769-4398.

Lady Lions' Charmed Season Ends With 10-0 Loss in Regional Final

CARROLLTON, TX -- May 3, 2008 -- On a picture-perfect May afternoon, in front of a standing-room-only crowd that included State 800 Meter Champion Jack O'Brien, Cinderella finally met her match.  In the TAPPS 4A Regional Final, the TAPPS 1-4A District Champion Lady Lions (17-4) suffered their only lopsided loss of the season, a decisive 10-0 defeat at the hands of four-time defending state champion Galveston O'Connell.  Alas, do not shed a tear for these Lady Lions (there's no crying in softball!), this is but the close of Chapter 1 of their story, a chapter filled with their relentless pursuit of excellence, their undying competitive spirit and their love of one another, especially their Senior, Maegan Waller.
