Character on Display
As the Beijing Olympics came to a close, I was reminded how so many athletes received a chance to showcase their talent AND their character in front of a world-wide audience. Some athletes showed great humility in victory and others showed grace in defeat. There were stories of incredible courage and perseverance. However, some athletes displayed unsportsmanlike conduct in front of the whole world. I was saddened that so many had to observe some of these displays. I was also reminded how each of us has a chance to show forth our character and the reflection of Christ to the world in ALL areas of our life. Whether we are at school, work or play, we do all things “Coram Deo” or before God. We must teach our children to live all of life “Coram Deo,” even if God is the only one watching and not the whole world. Thank you for partnering with us in this pursuit.

"Partners in Prayer" meets on Wednesday.

Our new "Partners in Prayer" group will meet on Wednesday morning this week.  Plan to stay after drop-off for a short time of coffee and prayer in the cafe.  This group will meet monthly to pray for specific needs at CDA.  I want to encourage everyone to stay for this important time.  I know you will enjoy it.  Thank you all for your prayerful support.

In Christ,

Scott Davis

We are busy getting ready for you.

The team here in Carrollton has been very busy getting everything ready for you.  Classrooms and curriculum are being prepared and teachers are receiving training.   Remember that orientations are on the 13th and 14th as described in the last couple of blogs.  Meet the teacher is on the 15th from 1:00 - 3:00pm.  Orientations are for parents only.  Please bring your students on Friday next week and they can get to know their new teacher.  If you have any questions about orientations, be sure to call our office.  Lastly, volleyball begins practice this coming week.  If you still want to play, be sure to register or e-mail Coach Hooper at shooper@coramdeoacademy.org.  Electives are still open as well.  Be sure to register for electives before school begins so we can be prepared with appropriate equipment and supplies.

Have a great weekend and we will see you next week.

In Christ,

Scott Davis

CDA Homework Planners

We have just received our new homework / activity planners for the 2008-2009 school year.  This year, these planners have a nice cover with the CDA logo.  These books are an excellent way for logic level students to keep up with assignments and special instructions.  We are selling the books for $6.00 this year just to cover the cost.  We have them at the front desk now or you can purchase them at orientation or later until they are gone.  For now, we want to make them available to logic level students (grades 5-8).  We should have enough to make them available to others after the start of school.

Thank you,

Scott Davis

Book List and August Schedule
You may see the book list on line now and I have included the schedule for August as well.  Go to the book list at http://www.coramdeoacademy.org/content/bookstore/08-09_booklist.pdf.  Read further for the August schedule.
