Powerful Offense Shines in 12-2 Victory over Ovilla Christian
CARROLLTON, TX -- April 25, 2008 -- The TAPPS 1-4A District champion Lady Lions (17-3) battered Ovilla Christian pitching with 15 hits, including five extra-base hits, en route to an historic 12-2 playoff victory.  The victory marked the first TAPPS playoff win for the Lady Lions.  The Lady Lions' offensive outburst was lead by Kelly McCullough, who singled, doubled twice and tripled.  In the circle, Alex Whitby limited the visiting Lady Eagles to two singles, to earn her first playoff victory.  With two runs in the first inning and four runs in the second, the Lady Lions seized control of the game and never looked back, adding two runs in each of the third, fourth and sixth innings, before the 10-run mercy rule ended the game.  In addition to Miss McCullough's offensive fireworks, Liz DeOtte singled three times, Jessica Gregory and Lailee LaBarbera each singled twice, Bailey Newlan and Kat Waller each singled, Miss Whitby doubled and Miss Waller tripled.  The Lady Lions' Regional Final game will be scheduled this weekend.
