When 20 DFW area private schools came together for this year’s Tarrant County private school championship meet, the logic school team from Coram Deo Academy was ready. Guided by Coach Daryl Simon, several students won or placed in their events, and three set new records.
D.J. Simon set new meet records in every running event entered: the 100, 200 and 400 meter. He also placed second overall in the long jump in the seventh-grade division. The 4x100 combined relay team of Chris Holland, Caleb Brake, Caleb Simon and D.J. Simon took first place and also set a new meet record. Andrew O’Brien won third place overall in the 800 meter run for the eighth-grade division, dropping 20 seconds from last season’s time. Connor Ashburn won second place overall in the 300 meter high hurdles and fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles.
Several other athletes placed in the top ten for their event: Hailee Hunn - 200 meter long jump; Maddie Marr – 200 meter and 400 meter long jump; Hayden Brandenburger, Martha Westbrook, Lauren Boyer and Katie Henderson – girls’ 4x400 meter relay; and Julia Massie, Hayden Brandenburger, Martha Westbrook and Maddie Marr – girls’ 4x100 meter relay.
