Volleyball
The Varsity girl's volleyball team opens up district play against Pantego Christian on Tuesday September 16. The Lady Lions have been working very hard preparing for district play to begin. Coach Kim Grizzle thinks "we will be competitive if we pass well and have a tough serve". Please join us at the Rock at 6:00 PM as the Lady Lions look for their first win in district this year.
You will also note some changes this year to our volleyball season. The newly formed Lions' Pride organization provided the funds for new uniforms for both Junior High and High School volleyball teams and funded the updates to the Rock's volleyball/basketball court. The competition court has been changed to allow the volleyball players more room for serving and the fans a better view. A special thanks to the Lion's Pride members for this blessing.
Basketball
Basketball season will be here before you know it. The schedules are filling up and we are preparing for another great season. The new uniforms are being ordered, the floor at the Rock has been repaired and the Varsity boys have begun their pre-season workouts. All those interested in playing basketball should register online through your family login to be sure you have an opportunity to play this year. Roster spots are filling up and we don't want to leave anyone out. We can add additional teams and games if we have enough interest from our students. It is our preference to have more than one Junior High team of each gender so that we can give these students an opportunity to improve and develope. Lions' Pride
The Lions' Pride is an organization of parents who are interested in the improvement of athletics at CDA. Marc Dingler, Chairman of Lions' Pride, is leading the organization with a desire to organize parental involvement. Thanks to Marc and Kari Dingler, last week at the football game, there were 24 people helping at the football games. Thanks to all those who helped. What an exciting way to begin the season.
Currently there are 41 family memberships in the Lions' Pride. As a result of their efforts so far we have purchased new uniforms for football, volleyball, basketball and soccer. We have added water machines, softball equipment and have a new scoreboard for the Rock on the way.
