Electives:
I want to remind you about a couple of electives which I think will be particulary exciting this coming year. On Fridays we have a new elective called "Around the World in 30 Days." This interactive course will expose students to sites, activities, art, food and experiences from around the world. Additionally, be sure to register for period seven / after school physical education. Students in grades K-3 will be able to maintain fitness but will also explore many different activities, games, developmental activities and much more. What a really great way to end a day.
Volleyball:
If you plan to play volleyball, you must register immediately or call the office. Practices will start soon and we must be prepared with all we need for the season.
Speakers Bureau:
Coram Deo Academy’s admission and school directors are available to speak about classical education for Preschool PTA, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), homeschool support groups, church study groups, and so forth. Please contact Barbara Rogers at brogers@coramdeoacademy.org if you have a connection with any such organization. We welcome the opportunity to share about education in the presence of God.
New Teachers:
While I know we will all miss teachers who must move on for various reasons, I am always delighted with what the Lord brings us in the form of new teachers each year. This year is no different.
Second Grade:
Miss Liz Kisko - Ms. Kisko was actually educated at one of few colleges that have close ties with the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. She had the opportunity to be college trained in a fashion that is much closer to what we teach at CDA. Grove City College in Penn. is a reformed, classical, liberal arts college. She is already experienced with the curriculum we use and should fit right in. Ms. Kisko was able to spend time in our second grade classroom this past spring and already has a good handle on all we need. Most importantly, I know you will find Ms. Kisko to be a very committed and passionate follower of Christ.
Fourth Grade:
Mrs. Shannon Carino - Mrs. Carino comes to us from a career of teaching classically at other private schools. Her graduate degree is from the University of Dallas which has a very fine classical program. Mrs. Carino already has one child at CDA so she is very familiar with our parent partnering model. She will teach one of the fourth grade sections on M/W next to Miss Hooper. It is always wonderful to see teachers like Mrs. Carino who are so excited about being able to teach classically and with a Christian Worldview at CDA.
Fifth Grade / Logic School
Mr. Jason Stults - Mr. Stults comes to use with several years of middle school teaching experience. You will find him very well rounded. Mr. Stults is in the fourth semester of work on his PhD. He also has a year of seminary training, music experience, coaching experience, technology certification and expertise in history, English and mathmatics. Mr. Stults came to us with a desire to follow his own studies in history and literature by teaching classically. He will be the fifth grade advisor but will also teach 6th grade English and 7th or 8th grade Algebra. Mr. Wood will teach the fifth grade history. You will really enjoy getting to know Mr. Stults and his Christlike attitude.
