There is a lot happening over the next few weeks.
The following is a description of the activities leading up to the beginning of school.  Please read all the way to the end.

August 11-12

            CDA of Carrollton Teacher In-service

August 13

            Parent Orientation Session I                  9:00am – 12:00pm
            Parent Orientation Session II                 1:00pm – 4:00pm

August 14

            Parent Orientation Session III               9:00am – 12:00pm

Each of the orientation sessions will include a general session for the first hour. Parents need only attend this session ONCE. However, parents should plan to attend one classroom session (beginning after the general session) for EACH student. For instance, if you have a first and third grader you can attend the first general session, go to the first grade classroom session during POS I and then attend the classroom session only during POS II or III for 3rd grade. If you only have one child, please attend on the same day they will attend (If you are M/W attend on the 13th, if T/Th attend on the 14th).

August 15

First Day of Period 7 Electives (Homework Head Start and PE)

August 22

            First Day of Friday Electives

August 25-29

First Week for Period 7 LABS (Math lab, reading lab, Latin Lab, etc.)
First Week for Basketball Skills Sessions in Period 7 (Grades 4-8)

Volleyball:

We will begin volleyball practice about a week before school begins. If you have not registered and are interested, please contact the CDA office and we will assist you.

Basketball:

If you are playing boys or girls basketball or are just interested in improving your skills, plan to join us each day after school (beginning the second week of school) for a 45 minute skills sessions that will help us prepare for our season and help younger players learn. If you are in 4th grade or higher, you may participate in this time. There is no cost for this time but those that participate on the teams during the season will pay the normal fee for that later in the year. If you attend a lab or have another activity, just come when you can. Every bit of time you can spend improving skills will help.

Books, Uniforms and Supplies

Remember that these items are posted on line. Be sure you are ordering now if you have not already.

Box Tops

I hope you have been saving these all summer. I am sure we will have a contest shortly after school begins. If you have been throwing them away, be sure to take a minute and clip them off and save them. These little bits of cardboard earn us quite a bit of money each year and your help is greatly appreciated.

Summer Reading

The logic level student should remember to complete your book report forms for the summer reading. They are posted on line along with the summer reading books. If you have questions about the reports, please contact Mrs. Fleming (7th and 8th) or Mr. Stults (5th and 6th). I have enjoyed my own summer reading and I trust that the students have as well.
Have a great week!
In Christ,
Scott Davis
