School Pictures, Admissions, Basketball and More
School Pictures:

Individual and class pictures will be taken this coming week on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 5th and 6th. Students should wear their school uniform. Please help us by having shirts tucked and everything as ready as possible when the students arrive. Pictures will be right away on those mornings. You should have received a packet for ordering pictures if you wish to do so. Packets are also available at the front desk if you need one.

New Student Admissions:

New Student Admission opens November 1. The Dallas School hosts first New Family Information Meeting at 7 pm, Monday, November 3. Campus tours for prospective families are available at all three CDA locations Thursday, November 13.

Coram Deo Academy will begin receiving new student applications for the 2009-2010 school year effective November 1, 2008. Applications for siblings of current CDA students may be submitted online using the same family account. Re-enrollment for current students opens January 1; no action is required for continuing students at this time.

If you know of others who may be interested in our school, please let them know about our upcoming admission meetings. Click here for a complete listing of dates.

I have asked many of you if you know others who may be interested in 9th grade. If you know a new family with 9th grade interest, please have them contact me for information as I will be continuing to collect information from new and current families over the coming weeks.

Donations:

We are still seeking donations for the new classrooms and other improvements such as signage and lighting. Again, part of the entire process of adding grade levels in Carrollton is our ability to add some space and make improvements. Therefore, this project is extremely important for all of us. Please consider how you can help with your donation of any amount. You can go straight to this web site and designate your gift for the improvements on the Carrollton campus.

Basketball:

Practice starts on Monday for boys and girls. We must have everyone registered right away if you plan to play. Please register by going to your family login. If you can not do that, you can register through the front desk. Please e-mail or call me with questions. sdavis@coramdeoacademy.org

Special Guest This Past Week:

It seems we had a visitor making his way around to some classes while I was out this past week. He was dresses as a monk for the 16th century.   Some students told me he was Martin Luther and that he told them about the importance of October 31st. You see, apparently Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany on this date in the year 1517 thus setting off quite a stir in the church. Martin Luther even put copies of these 95 Theses on the doors of classrooms this week for students to read.

The students in grades 4-8 heard a lecture on the history of Halloween. They learned about its roots and learned how our Lord has used this date to bring glory to Himself over the years.

I trust you will all have an excellent weekend. Remember to honor the Lord for the great things He has done in using Oct. 31st. We can celebrate this day as much more than a time for ghosts. It is one of the most important dates in Church history. If you would like to receive the power point created for the History of Halloween lecture, please e-mail me at sdavis@coramdeoacademy.org and I will be happy to send it to you. I am sure you will find it interesting.

In Christ,

Scott Davis
