Thanksgiving Break:
Our offices will be closed for Thanksgiving week. Should you need something or if anyone needs to contact us over the break, please e-mail carrollton@coramdeoacademy.org.
Fall Festival of the Arts:
The festival of the arts will take place on the 12th of December. This event features many of our elective students and their projects and performances. We also normally have representation from our speech class. The festival will begin at 9:30am on Friday the 12th of December and should end by 11:00am after performances and the view of displays. This will be our last Friday meeting for the quarter. Friday classes will resume on January 9th.
Basketball News:
It was a banner week for the Lions. The team earned a tough victory over the always good, Dallas Thunder on Monday. On Thursday evening the Lions traveled to Legacy Christian Academy in Frisco where they handed LCA a convincing defeat in front of many CDA fans that made the short trip to watch.
The Lions are now 3-0 on the season. Great start, team!!
Join us on December 1st:
The CDA of Carrollton Lions will take on the CDA of Flower Mound Lions in a friendly match-up on Monday evening the 1st of December at 6:30pm. Join us for this special event. It is GREAT fun for the whole family as we join in spirited but friendly competition with our CDA family from Flower Mound. For this special event we will have an admissions price of just $5.00 for the whole family. Wear your CDA t-shirts and come on out for the fun.
Staff Gains Valuable Knowledge and Experience:
Ms. Judy King attended the Science Teachers Association of Texas conference in Fort Worth on November 6-8th . While there, she attended several short courses and informational sessions. The short courses provided an opportunity to gain knowledge about science concepts and science teaching strategies. Venders from dozens of publishers were in attendance to discuss the latest materials and equipment to enhance the teaching of science. Mrs. Shannon Carino, Miss Liz Kisko, and Mrs. Stephanie Garland will be attending a math seminar on December 11th presented by Kim Sutton, a national and international math consultant. They will learn questioning strategies, classroom and student tools for maximizing instructional time and how to make complex math concepts interesting and fun for students.
Thank you for your support. You annual campaign contributions make it possible for teachers to attend conferences and have the latest equipment.
Special Guest:
I have invited yet another special guest to be here sometime around the end of the quarter. I can’t tell everyone yet who it is as I have to finalize arrangements to get him here from the past, but I sure he will be interesting. We will just leave it a surprise for now, but do look forward to the days!!
Admissions Season:
If you have a student waiting to come to CDA, be sure to apply early. We want to make sure you have the seat and day selection you want. If you have friends who are interested, please direct them to one of our information meetings. You can go to the following link to see the dates and to register for an event.
CDA 3rd grader wins Super Bowl!
Alex Koele, 3rd grader at CDA Carrollton, plays left defensive end for the
U8 Frisco Hawkeyes. The team was 7 - 1 and 2nd in the Division at the end of the regular season. They had to defeat two of the best teams in the league to win the opportunity to play in the Frisco Football League Super Bowl on Saturday, November 15, 2008. They accomplished that goal and were up against the Truth (the only team that had beaten them in the regular season).
The Truth was undefeated and feared in the league. One of their coaches was ex-NFL star Deion Sanders whose son was on the team. The Hawkeyes were excited about the game and ready to meet the Truth at Frisco Memorial Stadium. They led throughout the game and are the only team to have ever defeated the Truth. The final score was 32-18. Congratulations Alex Koele and the rest of the Hawkeye team!
If you have interesting information on CDA students, please let me know. I will be happy to report on what our students are doing outside of class.
Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday. May the Lord give you rest and enjoyment. I look forward to seeing everyone again in December.
In Christ,
Scott Davis
