MRS. CAMPBELL'S CORNER
The Coram Deo Café had a record turn-out at their meetings this week! The interactive fellowship was wonderful and the parents enjoyed getting to know one another better while sharing home school tips.  Here are a few of their suggestions to make the time at home more productive:
  • Use organizational mats  to identify each child’s work space
  • It is the parent’s responsibility to reduce the child’s anxiety by organizing home work spaces and assuring supplies needed are on hand
  • It is okay to remind a child that he/she did not act responsibly and that is why something must be redone or a poor test grade was received
  • Your children are capable of far more that you can believe
  • You may clean the house after the children move out
  • You’re not in 5th grade – your kids are
  • Play games and make home school fun
  • Always begin at the beginning and teach the first chapter. Don’t assume your child knows the concepts until it has been reviewed
  • Review and relax
  • Create visuals to reinforce concepts
  • Mix-up teaching tactics at home
  • Work on character issues as they come up
  • Read the questions first to assist with reading comprehension
  • Look for study buddies
  • Complete one subject when the child gets home from school. This makes the child feel good about already accomplishing a subject when starting the school day at home the next day.
  • Manage phone calls and other distractions during the day while working on school work
  • Include the preschoolers in the school day and work around the little one’s schedule while working with older children

 “CHRISTIAN COLLECTION” FUNDRAISER
It is time to kick-off our annual fundraiser and the Fundraising Committee could use your help! Abundant Funds Ministries is a Christ centered organization and has a history of producing tremendous results for schools just like ours through the “Christian Collection” campaign. The “Christian Collection” catalogs go home in the children’s PIFs the week of September 15th. Our campaign will run September 15th through September 30th. All students that secure ten items in sales by September 22/23 receive a furry friend! Other prizes and incentives are also offered during the two week campaign. Thank you for your participation in this opportunity to earn money for our classrooms.

CDA DADS
We are planning events this year for CDA dads to eat, work and fellowship at the school. A men’s work day at the school is coming soon. Please watch for announcements about future meetings. For further information regarding September work days at the school contact Mark Lewis mdlewis1993@verizon.net
