Coram Deo Academy’s mission is to educate youth in a historic Christian worldview through a vigorous classical curriculum. We aim to train ethical leaders and wise thinkers who will shape culture for the glory of God. If you know of others who may be interested in learning more about our program, please feel free to pass this information along to them. A complete listing of visitation dates is available at http://www.coramdeoacademy.org/content/pages/visit.php.
THANKSGIVING BREAK
Thanksgiving Break begins on Monday, November 24th – Friday, November 28th. There are no classes or events on our campus during the Thanksgiving this week.
PICTURE RE-TAKE DAYS
Individual student pictures will be taken on Tuesday, December 2nd and Wednesday, December 3rd. This is an opportunity for students that did not have their picture taken in November or want a re-take. For re-takes, please have your child bring their original picture packet to school to give to the photographer. Picture packet envelopes are available in the school office.
CLASS FESTIVALS and CHRISTMAS PARTIES
The PreK class will have their PreK Parade classfestival from 10:00am – 11:30am on Tuesday, November 18th and the 4th grade classes will celebrate their Holiday Ball class festivals the first week of December. The GS class Christmas parties begin at 10:30am and end by 12:00pm for our noon dismissals on Wednesday, December 17th and Thursday, December 18th.
FESTIVAL OF ARTS PROGRAM
The Grammar School Friday teachers and students invite you to attend their Festival of Arts program from 10:30am – 12:00pm in the school’s auditorium on Friday, December 12th, 2008. Performances will include the Beginning Band, Drama, Music, and Spanish classes. Art, P.E., and Science classes will be represented with table displays in the lobby of the auditorium. Please note: Grammar students are dismissed at noon after the Festival of Arts program.
ANNUALCHRISTMAS COLLECTION OF MACARONI AND CHEESE
Again this year the Grammar School is collecting boxes of Macaroni and Cheese to supply the Lewisville CCA pantry. Coram Deo Academy families have given over 4,000 boxes of Mac and Cheese to the pantry since we began donating four years ago! Students bring the Mac and Cheese on the day of the Christmas parties – Wednesday, December 17th & Thursday, December 18th. The children participate in this outreach to the community instead of exchanging gifts during their class Christmas parties. Please note the Grammar School (PreK-4th grades) dismisses at noon on December 17th and December 18th.
A MESSAGE FROM THE FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Free Money for CDA! Now you can raise money for CDA and for your tuition at no extra cost!
Introducing the “CDA Scrip Program” where you buy gifts cards for virtually any merchant that you use now. Scrip returns 2 to 17 percent of the total purchase to CDA. Use these cards just like cash for your usual purchases and then share in the rewards. One half of the reward goes toward your family’s tuition account and the other half goes to CDA. For details please read the CDA Scrip Program document on Mrs. Dwyer’s teacher docs or contact Karla Ebensberger at ebensberger@tx.rr.com. Deadline to submit your first Scrip order is Wednesday, November 19th; the deadline for the second pre-Christmas order is Friday, December 5th. Allow 3 days to complete your Scrip enrollment prior to placing your order.
Next are the “Found Coins” programs where money and merchandise are earned from your regular shopping, product labels, and recycling. All you need to do is sign up, use an internet portal for your online shopping, link your grocery card to CDA, collect labels, or just look around the house for those obsolete electronics.
You’ll be amazed at the range of merchants represented by these programs. To start generating funds for CDA right now (at no cost!), please see the Found Coins document on Mrs. Dwyer’s teacher docs or pick up a Found Coins booklet at the office.
Remember, you can even “double dip” by using the Scrip gift cards to buy merchandise from “Found Coins” merchants. For example, make amazon.com orders work for you and CDA – buy amazon.com gift cards and then start shopping at the onecause.com portal. Or buy Central Market gift cards and present your Foodie card at check out. (Central Market Foodie Cards are now available at the Grammar School and High School offices.) So many ways to raise funds for CDA at no extra cost!
