CDA Prepares for SACS Accreditation Visit
Dear Parents,

Blessings to you from the Lord and greetings from the faculty and staff of CDA. Please take a moment to review the following items of interest:

Weekly Highlights

ACCREDITATION VISIT – This coming week, we make another step towards one of our goals with a campus visit from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).  Dianne Shaw and her accreditation team arrive for their two-day visit, Thursday and Friday (September 28th & 29th).

Accreditation is a process of continual improvement (and Biblical accountability), so we never really “arrive” at this goal. However, Dianne and her team will provide us with feedback at the end of the week. Please join us Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the Grammar school "fireside" room to hear the visiting team present their findings.  Dianne's team members, themselves Christian school directors and teachers, are not here to dictate changes at CDA, but to provide support as we labor for God's glory. We welcome their advice and expertise. Since the SACS advisors are our honored guests we are asking all students to wear their “dress” uniforms for both Thursday and Friday. This would include oxford shirts and ties.

MOMS IN TOUCH – Will begin meeting to pray next Monday and Tuesday mornings, September 25th & 26th, just after drop-off. The group plans to gather on the steps of the auditorium. All moms of CDA students are invited to join this group of praying moms who are committed to lifting up our school, faculty, and students on a weekly basis. Let's build a wall of prayer around our new campus and all who gather there to learn and to teach in the presence of God. Questions should be directed to CDA mom Kristi Martin: wallnkmart@verizon.net

IS THERE A LAWYER IN THE HOUSE? – Don’t worry I’m not in trouble (yet), but we do have a need. Coram Deo Academy's debaters are putting together a team for competition in Mock Trial. One need they have is for an attorney to donate some time to help them develop their case. This year's case is a criminal trial, so a background in criminal law is helpful, but not required. Anyone who enjoys working with high school students and would be willing to give some of their time for Mock Trial competition should contact Gerri Colvin, CDA debate coach, at gcolvin@coramdeoacademy.org or (469-867-2925).

CORAM DEO CAFÉ – A monthly meeting of CDA moms is gathering on Friday morning, October 6th at 8:45 a.m. in the Auditorium. This month, “Modifying the Mundane into Marvelous” Taking classroom techniques and modifying them to fit the home environment. Featured speaker will be Polly Dwyer, CDA Logic School Director. Questions please directed to Donna Rector: dryutzy@aol.com.

FINALLY – When dropping-off or picking-up at car line, please help us by displaying your nameplate and pulling forward so we don’t back-up into the street.

CDA STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT- I am happy to pass along information about Coram Deo student involvement in other community activities; please send me an e-mail for inclusion.

  • Tyler Martin will be playing guitar as part of a world record breaking event called "1000 Guitars of Praise" at Reunion Arena on October 14, 2006. Tom Dooley (KVTT radio) has organized the event and tickets are still available from Mastermedia.org   Please get your tickets soon as they are close to a sell out for this inspiring praise and worship event!
  • Melissa McDaniel had the privilege this summer to enter a recording studio and cut her first CD. This is a solo piano work of worship songs. If like me, you are excited to hear this brilliant young lady and would like to purchase one of these CD’s they are available for $5 from either Melissa or her mom, CDA Arts Instructor Mrs. Alice McDaniel.

Thanks again for your attention and continued prayer. May the gracious God and Father of our Lord grant you peace and fill you with His Holy Spirit.
