Coming Events and Continued Concerns...
ACHIEVEMENT TESTING – During the week of February 6th, our 7-9th grade students will be taking achievement tests. We take these exams every year and this special week is built into our annual schedule. Your student should plan on attending on the days they would normally attend their typically scheduled Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu classes. Please plan on having your student here by the normal 1st period starting time (8:15a). Achievement testing will run during the mornings for these students and they return to regular schedules for the afternoon. There will be no disruption in the 10th -12th grade classes.
HIGH SCHOOL PLANNING MEETINGS – Wednesday, February 8th and Thursday, February 9th at 1:15pm we will be holding a meeting in our Upper School auditorium for parents of 7&8th grade students to discuss planning for the high school years at Coram Deo Academy. We will talk about graduation requirements, strategy for success in high school and even a look ahead to college guidance. Please mark your calendars as we take a 90-minute look at the most frequently asked questions about our high school. Students may be excused to attend with their parents.
COLLEGE PLANNING NIGHT – 7:00pm, February 23rd we have reserved the Auditorium at the UpperSchool for an evening of college planning information for our junior class. Topics will include 1) CDA Philosophy of career guidance, 2) Testing Transcripts and Teacher Recommendations and 3) College Financing. Space is limited to our junior class parents and students – mark your calendars and we’ll see you then.
CDA NEEDS - Thank you for the many of you that have shared your blessings with us. There are always things we can use around the school. Would you pray about ways you could help? Contact me brector@coramdeoacademy.org if you would like to know more.
CDA STUDENTS IN THE SPOTLIGHT - I am happy to pass along information about Coram Deo student involvement in other community activities; please send me an e-mail for inclusion.
CORAM DEO CAFÉ – This is a gathering of CDA moms at the Lower School is expanding to include parents of all grade levels providing a place for fellowship “to encourage one another and build each other up – 1 Thessalonians 5:11. The Café is open on selected Fridays and the next meeting is set for February 3rd from 9:00–11:00am at the CDA Lower School Auditorium (Wichita Campus). Featured speaker next Friday is Shannon Mahoney with the topic: Nutrition for Education and Dr. Mom. CDA mom Lisa Trigsted would like help organizing a Spring Formal. While this is not a school function, a number of CDA students attended a similar event last year. She is gathering helpers and ideas via email for now and a meeting will be organized soon! To volunteer help and ideas please email her at lmtrigsted@verizon.net.
CDA Soccer Coach Tim Minich is also the Head Counselor at CampKiowa. He would like to invite all CDA students to consider CampKiowa’s summer and off-season offerings. CampKiowa is an overnight summer camp that offers both enrichment programs and the fun and spirit of a traditional camping experience. Located at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas; CampKiowa’s offerings and options are too numerous to mention here. Please contact CampKiowa at (940) 239-5126 or info@campkiowa.com to arrange a home visit with your family. Also, please check their web site at www.campkiowa.com for additional information.
Thanks again for your attention and continued prayer. May the gracious God and Father of our Lord grant you peace and fill you with His Holy Spirit.
