October and November Events at CDA

We may lose some battles but ultimately we win the war.  God is faithful in all things.  One of the unique things about CDA is that families are encouraged to focus on the involvement of God in our lives.  The extra time at home during the week allows the students to learn what their parents think about the world around us.  Share your point of view with your Logic level student.  Teach them to find God's design in all things.  Discover the joy of learning with your student.  Use history, science, math, language and English to discuss order, man's will vs God's will, purpose, wrath and grace.  What is the chief end of man?  To glorify God in all things.  CDA is a family-centered school.  As you seek the things of value, draw close to your family and let them see how you praise God in all times.  Thank you for allowing us to help you educate your family.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

October 22/23.  On these days, the students do not have class.  Parents and teachers are given the opportunity to meet together in order to ensure the success of the students at CDA.  You will be contacted by the teacher if a conference is needed.  However, if you would like a conference, please feel free to request one as well.  If those days do not work well with your schedule, you may plan to have the conference after school.  Conferences can be held at any time during the year.  Let us know how we can help you.

November Opportunities

See Mrs. Dwyer’s teacher docs for information on how to receive Deo in the Park tickets, Raffle information about the free tuition and electives raffle, and Battle of the Scientists.

The raffle tickets are going fast...send in your request soon.  Find the information at Dwyer's docs on the CDAwebsite.

Screening information

Health screenings took place this week for those who requested it.  If you missed the dates and would like your child screened at school, please send in the informational document found at the CDA website, Mrs.
Dwyer’s document page.  The last dates for the screenings are Oct 27/28.  Grades 5th and 7th are
required to have a hearing and vision test.  6th and 9th graders are required to have a scoliosis screening.  You may also present information from your doctor to confirm that the screenings have taken place.

Picture Day

October 29/30 are CDA picture days.  We will be sending home picture order packets Monday and Tuesday.  Be watching for them next week.

NOVEMBER!!!

Grandparents Day is not just for the Grammar School.  We would like to host all grandparents of students in grades PreK-12th on November 5/6.  We will have a photographer present to take pictures.  Tours of the campus will also be available.  Logic and High School classes will be open for grandparents to visit and participate in the conversations, if they wish.  Please forward the email you received about Grandparents Day to the student’s grandparents.  We are hoping for a great turn-out.

Deo in the Park is scheduled for November 8th.  Tickets are on sale now (for entrance and food).  Please purchase ahead of time so we can plan for lunch as well as attendance.  This is fun day.  The silent auction will be smaller this year allowing this to be a time to showcase those great class baskets.  Come ready to bid on the great items in the baskets.  Most of the fun games for the little ones will be free this year.  The house system in the high school is preparing to run the food booths, dunking booth and cake walk as a way to raise some funds for their activities this year ($0.50 tickets will be on sale for the house booths at Deo in the Park).  This is a day for the WHOLE family.  Plan to set the date aside and spend the day with your CDA family.  Can’t wait to see you there.

Raffle tickets for free tuition and electives are on sale now.  See the school offices or go to the website and visit Mrs. Dwyer’s documents to get a copy of the order form.

Battle of the Scientists tickets are being sold at this time.  Only 45 tickets are available.  Every one who attends this year will need a ticket.  The scientists have teams this year which is sure to add excitement as well as fun!  The event is scheduled for January 29th. This is a great night of fun and learning.  The money for the ticket will go directly to the science department at CDA.  Don’t miss this event.  It is one of my favorites!
