Deo in the Park.  There are many free events at Deo in the Park this year.  Don’t forget to get your tickets ($8 each) which cover many of the events and lunch.  The high school house system will be selling popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, etc. and running the cake walk and dunking booth in order to raise some of their operating budget this year.

If you have a 7th or 8th grader, consider helping us out at the lunch area.  We need servers and helpers to take tickets and serve lunch.

Come ready to bid on the wonderful class baskets.  There are some great choices!

Grandparents Day.   We are starting to get the reservations in for Grandparents Day.  Please let us know if you have someone coming.  We are setting up opportunities for photos and well as planning tours and class visits.  We look forward to meeting our students’ wonderful grandparents.

Don’t forget to get your raffle tickets.  You can enter for a chance at free tuition (up to $3600) or free electives.  The number of tickets that can be sold is limited so order yours today.  Go the CDA website, Dwyer’s documents (found under teacher documents) for more information.  See November Opportunities

Battle of the Scientists:  this is one of the best events all year!  The science teachers of CDA compete for your students’ vote!  They try to wow the kids while explaining the physical world.  Only 45 tickets can be sold.  Don’t miss out.  (See November Opportunities under Dwyer’s documents at the CDA website for more information)  The event date is January 29th.

Events Around the Area:

Math and Science
The Expanding Your Horizons in Math and Science Career Conference for junior high school girls will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8, at UT Arlington. The event is intended to provide mentoring opportunities for girls in grades 6-8 as they meet and learn from women working in the math/science field. Dr. Marcy Brown Marsden has presented at the conference for several years and has found it to be a positive experience for students. The registration form provides additional information.

Kimball Art Museum

Until November 2, the Impressionists exhibit can be viewed.  The museum is located in Fort Worth off of University Avenue.  I have been to this museum many times.  There are many other things to do in Fort Worth before and after your visit.  Have a great time.

Dallas Museum of Art

Until May 17, Tutankhamun and the Golden Ages of the Pharaohs will be housed in the Dallas Museum of Art.  This is an excellent opportunity to see some of the treasures of the ancient world.  Afterwards consider a visit to the Dallas World Aquarium (which is more than an aquarium).

Check their websites for the best times and prices.

Pansy Order Pick-up

Pansy orders will be at the school to be picked up next Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th after school.  Time and location will be announced.
