District TAPPS winners advance to state competition

Coram Deo Academy of Flower Mound students garnered a host of awards in this year’s TAPPS District 4A Academic, Speech/Drama, and Fine Arts competitions in February. Thirty-six awards were earned in what is only CDA’s second year to participate in the competition.

The district recognized the top six students in each event, along with Honorable Mentions in Art. The top four in each category advance to the state meet in April in Austin. Fourteen individuals will represent CDA at the state meet. Their district awards are:

Academic

Rachel Synan, first place, Ready Writing

Chapin Cavender, first place, Computer Science

Molly Reed, first place, Current Events

Rachel Bannert, second place, Ready Writing

Jeremy Scroggs, fourth place, Current Events

Speech/Drama

Music

Eight students qualify to go to the TAPPS state solo and ensemble competition, doubling the number of CDA students who qualified last year.
