Two CDA students nominated to U.S. Service Academies

Flower Mound, Texas – When Congressman Michael Burgess recently announced his class of 2012 United States Service Academies nominees, Coram Deo Academy was well-represented. Out of 24 nominees, two students were selected from Coram Deo, a private, nondenominational Christian school with 21 high school seniors this year.

Burgess nominated Sam McKinnon of Argyle to the U. S. Naval Academy, and Daniel Gregory of Argyle to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Sam was also nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy by the Superintendent of the Air Force Academy, was accepted and has consented to attend. Selection is based on four criteria to ensure the brightest and most dedicated students are chosen:  academic performance, leadership potential, moral character and motivation for a military career.

“We are extremely proud of these two young men,” said Coram Deo Academy Headmaster, Rodney Marshall.  “Considering the size and presence of many of the public and private schools in Congressman Burgess’ district, it is an honor for us to have two of our students nominated to these prestigious academies.”

Coram Deo Academy is an independent, nondenominational Christian school, providing remarkable value and operating at three locations in the metroplex: in Dallas at 12727 Hillcrest Rd., in Flower Mound at 4900 Wichita Trail, and in Carrollton at 2435 E. Hebron Parkway. Filling a unique niche, the Academy educates youth in a historic Christian worldview through a vigorous classical curriculum and genuine school-home collaboration, where students attend school three days a week and work at home under the tutelage of their parents the other days. The curriculum is based on the classical trivium model of grammar, logic and rhetoric and includes the introduction of Latin in third grade. CDA offers a thoughtful approach to a renaissance in classical education and works to train ethical leaders and wise thinkers who will shape culture for the glory of God.
