Record number of AP Scholars named

More than a dozen Coram Deo Academy students have been named AP Scholars by The College Board in recognition of their achievement in receiving a score of 3 or higher on three or more college-level Advanced Placement exams. This is the highest number of scholars in the history of the Academy.

The AP Scholars are: Lauren Devoll, Bret Hawkins, Rebecca Musgrove, David Powell, Taylor Sharp, Rachel Synan, Lauren Westbrook; and six students who just graduated: Blake Johnson, Ashley Lampe, Will Middlebrook, David Neal, Jack O'Brien and Rachel Posey.

The AP program offers students an opportunity to receive college credit for high school courses when they score high enough on the exam. Coram Deo Academy students have taken more tests each year and increased their passing rate each year. This year 34 students took 69 tests with an overall pass rate of 78 percent.

The Academy has been improving the curriculum over the past few years and in the last month four courses were approved as Advanced Placement courses by the College Board:  Calculus AB, American History, Physics B, and English Literature and Composition. One additional course has been submitted for approval.

About Coram Deo Academy
Coram Deo Academy is an independent, nondenominational school and Christian learning community, with three locations in the metroplex: preK- grade eight in Carrollton at 2435 E. Hebron Parkway; preK- grade five in Dallas at 12727 Hillcrest Rd.; and preK – grade 12 in Flower Mound at 4900 Wichita Trail. Filling a unique niche, the Academy educates youth in a historic Christian worldview through a vigorous classical curriculum and genuine school-home collaboration, where students attend school three days a week and work at home under the tutelage of their parents the other days. A five-day option is also available from grade five and up at the Flower Mound campus. The curriculum is based on the classical trivium model of grammar, logic and rhetoric and includes the introduction of Latin in third grade. CDA offers a thoughtful approach to a renaissance in classical education and works to train ethical leaders and wise thinkers who will shape culture for the glory of God.
