Town Council approves site plan for phase one

With a 5 – 0 vote in favor, the Flower Mound Town Council approved phase one of the site plan for the Coram Deo Academy of Flower Mound development on Sept. 15. The proposal as approved by council members included additional landscaping of 20 more trees along the north and west property lines to provide screening for the neighbors, and creation of a new exit road off of Wichita Trail which will be directly across from the entrance to Twin Coves Park.

While council members again encouraged cooperation with neighbors and cautioned Academy staff to ensure landscaping on the perimeter of the property is maintained, they also complimented the Academy for the value it brings to the community.

“We appreciate you being in Flower Mound,” said Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem Tim Trotter. “It was never a question of service or benefit. We are so proud to have a school like Coram Deo. ”

“I am extremely proud of Coram Deo; it is a huge asset to this community,” said Council Member Joel Lindsey. “I am continually amazed by the quality of graduates. …  Coram Deo brings positive recognition to our town.”

The approval came after two years of work on master plan concepts and design of the first phase of the development.  Adjustments were made to accommodate and compromise where possible, according to Ryan North, CDA business manager.

“I had several meetings with our neighbors both in their homes and on our property to discuss any concerns regarding our application,” said Mr. North. “We did what we could to respond while still providing the best plan for our students and families.”

About Coram Deo Academy
Coram Deo Academy is an independent, nondenominational school and Christian learning community, with three locations in the metroplex: preK- grade eight in Carrollton at 2435 E. Hebron Parkway; preK- grade five in Dallas at 12727 Hillcrest Rd.; and preK – grade 12 in Flower Mound at 4900 Wichita Trail. Filling a unique niche, the Academy educates youth in a historic Christian worldview through a vigorous classical curriculum and genuine school-home collaboration, where students attend school three days a week and work at home under the tutelage of their parents the other days. A five-day option is also available from grade five and up at the Flower Mound campus. The curriculum is based on the classical trivium model of grammar, logic and rhetoric and includes the introduction of Latin in third grade. CDA offers a thoughtful approach to a renaissance in classical education and works to train ethical leaders and wise thinkers who will shape culture for the glory of God.
