The class will start with a pre-violin introduction, allowing students to become familiar with the instrument’s basic structure, the parts composing the bow, the various positions of the violin including ‘rest’ and ‘play,’ and the proper method of holding and using the bow. Following that, the class will move to practicing basic violin techniques using Suzuki methods with group instruction.
Part and parcel of the class is learning to appreciate classical music and getting to know the work of famous composers. “We’ll proceed with one skill at a time, learning and reviewing,” said Ms. Lee. “And, since learning about music is just like learning a language, listening is very important in their development.”
