Coram Deo High School Anticipates Starting House System
Originally, the house system was just that, established homes to boarding school students in British Commonwealth countries, merging students of differing ages and talents together. However, indicative of the strength and success of the system, when the number of boarding schools diminished, the house system continued to flourish. Today, the house system is found, alive and well in Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore and throughout European and American high schools and college campuses.

The house system provides opportunity to create and develop strong school spirit and a positive sense of belonging within the larger school community. Students (by families), grades 9-12, are assigned to houses assuring a broad cross section of ages, abilities and natural talent. Various house projects, special events and competitions support and depend upon the value of teamwork, cooperation and opportunity to showcase the talents of individuals and build strong citizens.

A volunteer task force of CDA high school students, faculty and staff are already busy planning for the fall kickoff of the CDA house system this August. We look forward to telling you more about it in the coming months.
