CDA Dallas to commemorate Senior volleyball players at inaugural Homecoming game

Katie Beth Pelley
On Thursday, Coram Deo Academy Dallas will host its first-ever, Homecoming volleyball game. This game serves as a milestone for the Dallas campus. Not only does it signify that we now have alumni who can come home to the CDA Dallas community, but it will also be a significant moment to recognize our Senior volleyball players at Senior Night.
Our Senior volleyball players were part of the first-ever volleyball team at the Dallas campus in 2018. The group includes Gianna L., Kesia V., Olive E., Landry H., Anaya L., Anna C., Kate W., and manager Meagan L. Most of this group started freshman year with a few girls playing together for the two years prior.

Volleyball Program Director, Corrie Norfleet, describes the early days for the team, “When the group started out, half of them had never played before and the team was thrown into a varsity division. There were a few very one-sided games that first year and quite a few losses.  Still, we made it into playoffs.”

The volleyball team started with some practice time and many months of off-season training. Norfleet describes how the program has evolved with a program of training, camps, and open gyms that “everyone wants to attend.” She goes on to add, “Because of the hard work and dedication of these trailblazers, the program has grown into six teams, and most are making playoff runs.”

When asked about her favorite memories of the group of seniors, Norfleet said, “One of my favorite memories of our group was winning our first playoff round last season. It was so exciting to see their hard work pay off in such a tangible way.” She also went on to add, “Another great moment has been their performance in the lip sync battle at team camp!”

Though this is the last year the team will play together, the players' impact will continue within the CDA Dallas volleyball program.

“This group of seniors has always pushed for more. More strength, more knowledge, more fun, and more volleyball. It has created a culture of pursuing excellence both in season and out for this sport. They also have been so supportive of each other and have grown through the highs and lows of competition as a team,” Norfleet said.

“I hope they look back and can treasure these moments together and recognize the legacy their passion for the game has established for our school. It has been an absolute joy to coach them and see them reach their potential.”
