CDA Dallas’s Inaugural Turkey Trot Takes Flight: A Fun Run Bringing Families Together!

Over Thanksgiving Break, twenty-five CDA Dallas families joined in for the first ever CDA Dallas Turkey Trot benefitting CDA Athletics.
Driven by her daughters’ desire for their very own school Turkey Trot, Chloe Aduddell along with Mary McGuire and Justi Buck planned and put on the race.
Spectators and families lined the park and paths cheering on runners for both the one mile and the 5k races.
“It was so fun to see CDA friends outside of school supporting our Dallas Athletic Program together,” Aduddell said, “and having fun doing it!”
The Turkey Trot took place on Saturday, November 18 and had 94 individual participants. The race had two optional runs: a one-mile fun run and a standard 5k race. Both races were along sidewalks in the neighborhood surrounding Mimosa Park, and had directional signs and bright, orange flags to make the turns for the runners.
“This year we had a participation trophy for the grade with the most in attendance,” Aduddell said, “Second grade won with 10 students.”
First, second, and third place medals were awarded for the one mile and 5k races, and $500 was raised and donated to CDA Dallas Athletics.
“Next time you are visiting your student’s classroom, look for the Turkey Trophy on display,” said Aduddell, “who will be the winners next year?!”
